The IP (International Protection) protection level system was drafted by the IEC (International Electro Technical Commission). The lamps are classified according to their dustproof, foreign object intrusion, waterproof, and moisture-proof characteristics. The foreign objects referred to here, including tools, human fingers, etc., must not touch the live parts of the lamp to avoid electric shock.

IP protection level is composed of two numbers. The first number indicates the degree of dustproof and foreign object intrusion of the lamp; the second number indicates the degree of airtightness of the lamp against moisture and water intrusion. The larger the number, the higher the protection level. The format of the IP level is IPXX.

The first marking number Protection level Definition:

0-No protection No special protection for people or things outside

1-Prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 50mm. Prevent the human body (such as the palm) from accidentally contacting the internal parts of the lamp. Prevent foreign objects of larger size (diameter greater than 50mm) from intruding.

2-Prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 12mm. Prevent people's fingers from touching the internal parts of the lamp to prevent the intrusion of foreign objects of medium size (12mm in diameter).

3-Prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 2.5mm. Prevent tools, wires or similar details with a diameter or thickness larger than 2.5mm from intruding into the parts inside the lamp.

4-Prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 1.0mm. Prevent tools, wires or similar details with a diameter or thickness larger than 1.0mm from intruding and contacting the internal parts of the lamp.

5-Dust-proof It can completely prevent the intrusion of foreign objects. Although it cannot completely prevent the ingress of dust, the amount of dust invaded will not affect the normal operation of the lamp.

6-Dustproof Completely prevent the intrusion of foreign objects and completely prevent the entry of dust.

The second marking number Protection level Definition:

0-No protection No protection

1-Prevent dripping water intrusion Vertical dripping water (such as condensed water) will not cause harmful effects on the lamp.

2-It can prevent dripping water when it is tilted 15 degrees. When the lamp is tilted from vertical to 15 degrees, dripping water will not cause harmful effects on the lamp

3-Prevent the intrusion of sprayed water. Rainproof, or prevent the water sprayed in the direction with an angle of less than 60 degrees from the vertical from entering the lamp and causing damage.

4-Prevent splashing water intrusion Prevent water splashing from all directions from entering the lamp and causing damage.

5-Prevent the intrusion of jetted water Prevent the water jetted from the nozzle from all directions from entering the lamp and causing damage.

6-Prevent the intrusion of large waves. The lamps installed on the deck can prevent damage caused by the invasion of large waves.

7-Prevent water intrusion when immersed in water The lamps are immersed in water for a certain period of time or the water pressure is below a certain standard to ensure that no damage is caused by water ingress.

8-Prevent water intrusion when sinking. The lamp will sink indefinitely under the specified water pressure to ensure that it will not be damaged by water.

For example, the protection class IP65 of the lamps means the 6th level of contact protection and foreign object protection. The protection range is dust enclosed bai, and the cabinet should not enter dust when the cabinet is at a low voltage of 20 mbar. The waterproof protection grade is level 5, and the protection range is protection against water jets. Water jets directed at the cabinet from every direction should not cause damage.
